The daily card: one card a day

It is the simplest exercise there is — and the one readers most often recommend to beginners. One card, every day.
How it works
Shuffle, draw one card, look at it. Without a question. That is the point: this is not about learning something, but about getting to know the images.
Write down the date, the card, and in two sentences what strikes you. Not the handbook meaning — what you see.
When to draw
Morning or evening, both are recommended. In the morning you will see the card through the day; in the evening you read it against the day just passed.
The second approach teaches faster, because you immediately have something to compare against.
What happens after three months
You reread the notebook, and two things become visible.
Which cards recur. For every person, a few turn up strikingly often.
How your reading has changed. The same card, three months apart, with entirely different notes — that is the real progress.
What Chana would add: if you draw a card you already know, do not put it back. Those repetitions are precisely what is interesting: the same card on a different day reads differently.
What it is not
Not a daily horoscope. The daily card predicts nothing about your day — it is a learning exercise, and everyone who recommends it says so plainly.
